The Financial Reporting Council (FRC) has published a myth-buster to dispel common misconceptions about Corporate Governance and Stewardship. The document addresses several frequently asked questions, such as:

  • What do we mean by stewardship?
  • Does the Corporate Governance code give the FRC powers to enforce against Directors?

FRC updates 2021 Statement of Intent on ESG

The FRC published its first Statement of Intent on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) in 2021, which identified underlying issues with the production, audit and assurance, distribution, consumption, supervision and regulation of ESG information.

The FRC has now published an update to its 2021 Statement , setting out areas where there remain ongoing challenges in ESG reporting and suggesting actions for preparers to produce decision relevant information.

The factsheet has been updated for the changes to FRS 100 in respect of the determination of equivalence.

IAASB opens public consultation on less complex group audits

The International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB) has opened a public consultation on the group audit-specific section of the proposed auditing standard for less complex entities (LCEs). The proposed section, Part 10, Audits of Group Financial Statements, is intended to form part of the proposed International Standard on Auditing for Audits of Financial Statements of Less Complex Entities (ISA for LCE) when finalised. The exposure draft is open for public comment until the 2nd May 2023.
